This powerful image depicting part of the driving mechanism of a 100-ton locomotive on the famous Bluebell Railway in southern England was taken just before it thundered off into the distance enveloped in clouds of smoke and steam. Printed from a large-format negative, made with a 5 x 4 inch camera, the image shows remarkable mid-tone and highlight detail in the shiny metal, brought out further by allowing the shadows to print darker.
The image size of this edition of ten (printed in 1998) is approximately 12 x 9.5 inches (30 x 24 cms) on 15 x 11.5 (38 x 29 cms) and was hand-printed on Agfa Multicontrast Classic fibre paper, Selenium toned and air-dried to archival processing standards.
Note that the on-screen image has less visible detail, slightly different contrast, colour tone and overall sharpness compared to the real photograph. However, if you like the on-screen image you will love the actual signed photograph framed on your wall.
The print is supplied un-mounted and packed between multiple layers of cardboard for secure airmail delivery to most countries in the world. The price includes FREE airmail postage but Insurance is NOT included - it can be added at cost if requested - please e-mail for details and alternative rates.
