This image portraying a woman was made by UK-based photographer Irving Young and printed using the very unusual “Abrasion” alt.photo process as researched and practised by Dennis Fielding. The Abrasion process carries on from Gum Bichromate and involves pouring a slurry (including sawdust in the mix) across the print surface. The process is known to perhaps a handful of photographers so prints are quite scarce. The results are not dissimilar to the French “Fresson” process... a secret technique guarded by the creators for more than 100 years.
The image size is approximately 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15 cms) on 8 x 11 inch (20 x 28 cms) water-colour paper carrying the printer’s name and notes.
Note that the on-screen image has less visible detail, slightly different contrast, colour tone and overall sharpness compared to the real photograph. However, if you like the on-screen image you will love the actual signed photograph framed on your wall.
The print is supplied un-mounted and packed between multiple layers of cardboard for secure airmail delivery to most countries in the world. The price includes FREE airmail postage but Insurance is NOT included - it can be added at cost if requested - please e-mail for details and alternative rates.
